Advice & Guidance

City Health Clinic’s advice and guidance for our patients is based on information issued by The Scottish Government, Lothian Health Board, Health Protection Scotland and NHS Inform.

We have now moved into Phase 2 -3 of reopening in line with Government guidelines.

Whilst this is a very positive step forward, we advise that we are operating under strict regulations. As a result we are operating 1 surgery and the treatment we can provide at this time is very limited.  We can only see patients who book an appointment in advance.

If you have a dental emergency please call us as early in the day as possible to enable us to assess and manage your dental care effectively, or if you wish to speak with our reception team please call us on T: 0131 228 2442 between the hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Please be aware that the practice door remains closed, we can only see patients who have a 'booked' appointment.

Please call us on arrival as we need to check you in by phone, and ask you a few questions prior to entry.

At this time for certain treatments, those that require an aerosol generating procedure, e.g., the use of a dental hi-speed (drill) you will be onward referred to a dental hub if required. Dental hubs initially had to restrict the range of treatments available in urgent dental care centres, but now these centres are able to expand  the scope of this service to deal with a wider range of acute and urgent dental problems.

If you have a pre-booked appointment for a dental check-up, we will contact you in advance of your appointment to confirm this appointment. We may also need to cancel this appointment and reschedule. Our apologies in advance for the need to do this, but due to the serious restrictions on service we are unable to see patients as routine during the COVID-19 pandemic. If we do need to cancel your appointment, can we ask that you please respond to our communications as we need to ensure that you do not travel to attend the clinic, we are closed for routine dental care until further notice.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these diffuclt times and we hope you are all keeping well.
